Bold color surrounds a face that feels anything but bold.
Behind oversized glasses, one eye meets the viewer while the other disappears into fractured color. There is sadness in his expression, but also something arresting about him—a face broken into unexpected shapes and colors that somehow still holds together.
Fractured Vision holds a deeply personal place in my work. It was the first painting I created after Bryan died that I stepped back from and genuinely felt good about.
I wasn't trying to paint grief or make the piece mean something specific. I was drawn to the reference—the boldness of it, the face, and the sadness I saw there. I took the pieces that made me feel something and made them my own.
Looking back, this painting became more than the image that inspired it. It was a moment when creating felt good again.
This piece is framed.
Two eyes. Two colors. One unwavering gaze.
Built from bold strokes and fractured fields of color, Through Different Eyes asks you to look a little longer. Black lines give structure to a face that refuses to stay within any expected palette, while mismatched eyes become the quiet center of an otherwise vivid composition.
There is an expression here that is difficult to name. She is looking directly at us, but what she is thinking, or what she sees when she looks back, is left unanswered.
Like much of my work, this piece began with a reference image that made me feel something. I kept what drew me in, let go of the rest, and followed the painting where it wanted to go.
Maybe we don't all see the same thing.
Maybe that's the point.
This piece is NOT framed.
A faceless figure emerges through layers of saturated color and expressive, instinctive brushwork. Her form is unmistakable, yet her identity remains open.
Drawn from an image that created a feeling worth following, Seen became an interpretation rather than a reproduction keeping the shapes, gestures, and energy that mattered and allowing the rest to fall away.
There is something both exposed and private about her. She can be observed, but she cannot be completely known.
What she means is left to the person standing in front of her.
This is a framed piece.
